AEP composite fasteners are available in various length and thread size combinations to fit a wide range of host panel thicknesses. This offers you enormous design flexibility over a variety of different applications.What's more, our composite inserts are easier to install than "old style" metal products and we have several approvals and specifications that may aid you in selecting the appropriate fastener for your use.

Customer Unique Styles
AEP offers the world's largest selection of composite inserts, with a product line that is unmatched in the industry. There are many different types of inserts for honeycomb sandwich panels, creating several hundred different part numbers, each one varying by style, length and or thread size combination.

Our website contains descriptive information as well as specification sheets for many of these different inserts. It does not, however, show our entire product line. If you cannot find what you are looking for here, please call our Engineering Department and we will gladly help you find it. Alternatively, if you simply would like us to manufacture a new and unique type of insert, we can handle that too.

INDUSTRY & AGENCY APPROVALS
Torlon® engineering polymers have been tested successfully against many industry standards and specifications. The following is a partial list of approvals by different companies and agencies for a myriad of applications:

Underwriters Laboratories
Torlon® has been awarded a 94 V-O classification and passes vertical flammability.

Federal Aviation Administration
Torlon® passes FAA requirements for flammability, smoke density, and toxic gas emissions.

Military Specifications
MIL-P-46179A Plastic Molding and Extrusion Materials, Polyamide-imide. This specification covers polyamide-imide thermoplastic materials intended for use up to 500ºF.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration
NHB8060.1 "Flammability, Odor, and Offgassing Requirements and Test Procedures for Materials in Environments that Support Combustion." Torlon® has passed the NASA spacecraft materials requirements for non-vacuum exposures per NHB8060.1.

Society of Automotive Engineers -AMS
AMS 3670 is the specification for Torlon® materials. The Specification suggests applications requiring a low coefficient of friction, thermal stability, and toughness up to 482ºF.
